But all the options mean you’ll likely find the perfect choice for your new bathroom. What’s right for one person won’t be the right choice for another. The ideal choice for each person is the one that looks best to that person and offers durability. Options range from affordable tile and laminate countertops to expensive stone and quartz. We’ll share what you need to know about bathroom countertop options and how to choose the right design and material for your bathroom remodel.

Important Considerations

Before making your purchase, you should consider your options when selecting your bathroom countertop.

Price

Knowing the price range of countertop options is essential if you’ve set a particular budget. The most affordable choice is laminate, Corian is a step up, and quartz and other stones will be the most expensive options.

Durability

Soft stones like marble make a fantastic-looking countertop. Quartz is a highly durable option, and laminate and Corian also hold up well in bathrooms. Still, they can stain and chip, so they are best in bathrooms where children are not the primary occupants.

Availability

Although things are improving, supply chain issues persist when it comes to building materials, especially when materials are imported. Backups at U.S. ports with products sitting for four to six weeks before being loaded onto railcars and semi-trucks. And that’s where container shortages come into play. Some locales where these materials originate are dealing with getting back up to speed from shutdowns. So, it’s important to find out when your selection will be available.

Popular Choices in Countertop Materials

Marble Countertops

Install granite or marble in your master bath to give the vanity top a rich, sleek look. With affordable “grades” of stone available, you won’t have to break the budget for this feature. Your choice will depend on which material best suits what wear-and-tear conditions are likely. Granite can handle heat better than cheaper options but may stain more easily from products like hair dye that contain oils/fatty substances, while marbled surfaces often stand up well against oil-based stains such as spilled milk.

Quartz Countertops

Quartz is engineered instead of natural, making it less expensive than granite and marble. They mirror granite in beauty while still being affordable by most people’s standards. There are many different types available too so shoppers should find one they love before making their final purchase decision.

Manufacturers create these countertops with ground quartz bound together by a binder. Available in an extensive range of shapes, colors, and patterns, quartz is non-porous, so they resist staining and are easy to clean.

Corian Countertops

Like quartz, Corian is also non-porous and durable. This manufactured material is made by blending polymers with other minerals. Keeping it clean is a breeze, and it’s available in a multitude of colors. Corian costs between $45 and $65 per square foot. Granite costs between $50 and $200 per square foot. Corian is an excellent choice for those who want to have a durable and beautiful material. It can be expensive, but with prices varying depending on the thickness or style you choose, it may not make sense not to buy something thicker if your budget allows it. Granite Countertops

Granite takes the look of a bathroom up a notch with an elegant and one-of-a-kind look. To get this effect, each slab of granite is unique. It is durable and heat resistant, so your curling iron won’t easily ruin it, and your makeup won’t stain.

Granite also helps resale value. Granite must be sealed at least once a year, and it can chip and stain once the sealer wears off.

Laminate Countertops

Laminate is a great top material for your vanity because it comes in many different colors and styles, including the look of granite. This product has the versatility of blending into any bathroom decor style and offers an affordable price point that will work well with most budgets. However – like anything else- there are some drawbacks. Laminate is water-resistant, but you’ll need extra protection when washing your hands or getting wet while taking showers/baths. You’ll want to add some stain prevention measures, such as wiping down areas where hot equipment may burn the surface. Over time the laminate is likely to dull.

Tile Countertops

Ceramic tile countertops can fit any style, from traditional to modern. It’s also heat, stain, scratch, and water-resistant. While beautiful, tile countertops require a considerable amount of maintenance. You must clean out the grout constantly. But you may commit to this when considering all the options available, including the colors and finishes and the various patterns that the tile can be laid.

Concrete Countertops

Concrete offers the look of natural stone and can be customized in any color and texture. It can also be shaped to fit perfectly into your room’s dimensions. It’s also durable and eco-friendly but must be sealed regularly.

  • Kids bathroom’s need to be durable; laminate countertops are an excellent choice.
