When the homeowners reached out to Ken Spears Construction, they had several challenges they needed to solve. Their current bathroom layout and design felt dated and didn’t reflect their taste. The space included a bulky linen closet that took up valuable square footage but didn’t provide adequate storage.
They also wanted to replace the tub with a spacious walk-in shower featuring a large bench. To support their love for entertaining friends, the couple wanted to add a door directly from the bathroom to the backyard, giving pool guests convenient access.
How We Helped Them Reach Their Objectives

To bring the homeowners’ vision to life, we transformed their outdated tub into a walk-in shower with large marble tile walls, a spacious bench seat, and elegant brushed bronze fixtures.
The awkward linen closet was replaced with sleek built-in cabinetry, providing better organization and more functional storage. To modernize the space, we installed 12×24 rectangular tiles in a striking herringbone pattern on the bathroom floors, adding a stylish and contemporary touch. Fresh finishes completed the transformation, with crisp white baseboards and moldings brightening the space, while updated cabinetry, countertops, and mirrors added a refined and cohesive aesthetic.
The result? A bathroom that’s functional and reflects the couple’s personal style and practical needs.

The design details of this project were the perfect expression of the homeowners’ vision, blending warmth, sophistication, and practicality. Shaker-style cabinetry, crafted from maple wood and finished with a pecan shell stain, introduced timeless elegance and a sense of natural warmth to the space. Daltile One Quartz countertops, a shower curb, and a bench seat in the luxurious Calacatta Alabaster hue complemented the cabinetry, adding a polished, high-end finish that tied the design together.
For storage, recessed linen cabinets were seamlessly integrated into the wall, creating a sleek, built-in look. Floating shelves above the toilet matched the cabinetry and provided functional, stylish storage. Behind the vanity, a 2×10 subway tile backsplash introduced subtle texture and a modern flair, serving as the perfect backdrop for a custom mirror.
The fixtures further elevated the space, with Kohler Margaux faucets and a Kohler Artifacts hand-held shower in vibrant brushed bronze, offering a harmonious blend of beauty and functionality. A Kohler Memoirs comfort-height toilet completed the ensemble with practicality and elegance. The shower walls and bathroom floors were finished with Daltile Marble Attache Lavish, which achieved a cohesive and luxurious design, with polished finishes and a matte texture for the floors, adding visual interest.
