There are times when the best way to describe a successful kitchen remodel is to actually show it. And many times, it’s the details working together that make the overall project great. That’s certainly the case inside this elegant kitchen remodel in North Aurora we recently completed. Let’s take a look at a few of those details.
Expectations: Setting the Stage
The owners of this North Aurora home wanted to update their kitchen and refinish their natural hardwood floors. They had some pretty specific ideas regarding how they wanted the kitchen to look, including a copper theme. They didn’t simply want to refinish the cabinets, so we installed newly painted cabinets with Silestone Copper Mist countertops. We installed a copper range hood and copper finish pendant lights. That also included a glass door cabinet with a light showing a copper kettle. We added under cabinet lights and a grey subway backsplash. In addition, we refinished the hardwood floors for the entire first floor—creating an element that tied all the rooms together.
Here are Some of the Details
Here’s a look that the kitchen that gives you a feel for the painted maple cabinets, Silestone Copper Mist quartz countertops, and the rustic copper hood range. You can also see the use of classic grey subway tile that helps tie in the rustic copper accents and grey cabinets. There is also plenty of natural light thanks to the large window over the sink.
We also installed copper pendant lights over the peninsula to pick up the copper accented countertop and copper range hood.
Practicality was important in this remodeling project as well. You can see that reflected in the built-in pantry next to the refrigerator that provides tons of additional storage for dry goods or small kitchen appliances. Having a pantry like this helps keep clutter down in the kitchen and adds to the elegant traditional style. And the built-in desk is a nice, practical touch as a place to work on recipes—or to keep an eye on someone who needs a little homework supervision while mom or dad is preparing dinner!
Here’s another example of the combination of form and function. This over-sized peninsula with Quartz countertops is an ideal place for casual entertainment when friends visit. The lip on one side, allows for tall stools or chairs. That also makes it a great place for the family to grab a quick breakfast or a snack at any time.
A big part of this project was the tying together of the copper color of the fixtures, the copper range hood, and the countertops. Here’s a close-up look at the flecks of copper that run throughout the quartz countertops. This really makes for a kitchen with a look that stands out from the crowd!
