Back in 1989, Ken and Kathy Spears knew they wanted to get involved in their community. Spending many years in DeKalb county, Ken and Kathy saw the potential of the students that attended their local high school- Indian Creek. The problem, however, was that many students didn’t have the tools and resources they needed to succeed after high school. At the time, scholarships were sparse.
To help with this, Ken and Kathy decided to start a scholarship for students at Indian Creek High School. Awarded every Spring, the Ken Spears Construction, Inc. scholarship is a $1000 award given to an ICHS senior who is planning to continue their education at either a two or four-year university.

Chosen by the faculty, the Ken Spears Construction, Inc. scholarship is awarded to deserving students who have a vision of where they want to attend, and what they want to study after their time in high school. Students do not need a certain grade point average to apply.
Ken Spears is proud to announce that over 97% of all scholarship recipients since in 1989 have graduated or on track to graduate.
