Our Remodeling Process
What to Expect When Remodeling Your Home
We have remodeled homes across DeKalb County and Kane County, IL, for over 35 years. Part of our success comes from the detailed home remodeling process that we use for each project. This process allows us to communicate and collaborate with our clients from the start to the finish of their projects. Here's what you can expect during your home remodeling project with Ken Spears Construction:
01
Initial In-Person Meeting
We initially meet with you in your existing home to determine how you currently use your home, what you really like about it, features that you would like to have, and what will be the most efficient use of the space. During this meeting, we will discuss your vision from layout to design to materials. It's a great time to show off those design inspiration images that you've been saving from Instagram, Pinterest, and other sources. We'll also discuss your preliminary budget and discuss if it makes sense for you to invest in your home. If so, we'll continue with a design agreement.
02
Construction Design Process
Next, we will design your home using the input from our onsite meeting. We will discuss your home plans and budget at the next meeting in our conference room.
This also allows us to make changes to your project while you watch so we can truly give you the space you've always dreamed of. Our software lets you see 3-D views of your new space in your DeKalb or Kane County home.
03
Make Your Selections
Many selections and options come into play when remodeling a home, and we will guide you through the process. What flooring will be the most durable for your family and pets? We can help you choose one that will last for years to come!
Can't decide between quartz or marble kitchen countertops? We can help you weigh the pros and cons of each. We'll work with you to find the materials that fit your budget and lifestyle.
04
Make Your Selections
After we have developed a plan, we will do a walk-through with our building trades team members so they can better understand the project's scope. We work with you to bring your budget in line with the ideas for your remodel.
This lets us give you an exact price for your kitchen, bathroom, or other home remodeling project.
05
Finalize Your Project
Once we have provided you with a quote for your project, we will review the plan with you and recap the feedback and insights from our team members. We do this to address any potential challenges before the project starts.
06
The Construction Process
As we head to production, we will provide you with an expectation of when the project will start, when it ends, and what will happen in the interval between those two points. While your project is underway, we will stay in contact and be there to answer any questions you may have.
07
Final Walkthrough - Warranty
Once we have completed construction, we will conduct a final walk-through of your new space to ensure that it is everything you expected and more! We will then hand over your keys and allow you to enjoy your stunning new kitchen, master bathroom retreat, or other room.
You'll be able to rest easy in your new space, knowing that if anything isn't 100% perfect or anything breaks, we'll be back to your space to make it right. Our general warranty for service is two years, but many manufacturers of the items we use in your home have an additional warranty depending on the manufacturer.
